Pambula Motorfest - Our History
The Pambula Motorfest started in 2012 when a group of friends decided that Pambula needed another car show, as it had been many years since there had been a car show held locally.
There were no expectations when the gates opened at that first show in July 2012, as there were no pre-entrants, and attendance was an unknown. By 7am that morning, having not seen a car at all, there was much relief when they started rolling in! There were enough entrants that we filled the Pambula Recreation Ground and had to move location to allow sufficient space for future shows!
The day was excellent and it gave Pambula and surrounding areas a much needed boost in trade!
So it was decided that this opportunity could not be passed and the event had to become annual. With that decision a committee was formed and the event Pambula Motorfest became incorporated and has gone from strength to strength raising money for the local community.
In that first year we raised $4500 for Marine Rescue, and had 90+ entrants.
The 2013 event was moved to the Pambula Sporting Complex, Pambula Beach. This venue allowed the space that the motorfest needed to grow, and had the much needed amenities for the many spectators that the event attracts.
2013 Motorfest raised $18,000 for the Pambula Hospital Auxilliary, allowing them to purchase new equipment for the local hospital, and attracted 200+ entrants.
In our second year the show had officially doubled in size!
2014 saw some tough times for the committee with the event date of April 13th being rained out and having to be cancelled just two days out from the show. The committee at this time was very thankful to everyone involved (entrants, spectators, exhibitors, sponsors, etc) for being so understanding and accepting the committee's postponement with good will, with most happy to attend on the new date of September 28th 2014.
And wasn't it a sight to behold? Pambula business flourished with the date set during the last week of school holidays and the event was a resounding success.
2014 Motorfest - 300 entrants and even with the cost of the postponement $19,000 donated back to the local community!
The 2015 event has again proven to be a fantastic weekend with something for everyone in the family and pushing the amount donated to the community to over $70,000 over the past 4 years.
The Food Frolic was a huge success and will be back again in 2018.
The 2016 event rounded out as another big success, but with limited resources and volunteers it was decided in 2017 to make Motorfest every second year to give our volunteers a bit of breathing space.
OFF WE GO READY FOR 2018! See you there!
